Eaton acknowledges the serious nature of HIV and AIDS on the African continent. All Eaton's employees are entitled to equality and freedom from unfair discrimination.

Eaton is committed to ensure that, in terms of the employment equity act which prohibits unfair discrimination, no employee may be unfairly discriminated against for his or her HIV status, among other things.

Eaton is committed to ensure that employees who have become infected are under no obligation to inform their employers and may remain fit for work for many years. In this respect, they should be treated like any other employee suffering from a long term progressive illness. Where disclosure is made to the employer, this will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

The Management of Eaton ensures all employees have a duty of mutual trust and confidence and that the medical information will be kept confidential.

The Management of Eaton will not tolerate any harassment of employees infected with HIV or AIDS by fellow employees.

Eaton is committed to the further prevention of HIV and AIDS among its staff and strives to manage the impact of the disease in the workplace by offering assistance to staff infected and or affected by HIV and AIDS.
